Embryologists state time in conceptual age, also known as. Clinicians and sonographers use gestational age , also known as embryological age ; conception is first day of pregnancy menstrual age , to date pregnancy; first day of last menstrual period is beginning of gestation. Gestational age adds 2 weeks to conceptual age. 12 days after conception, during implantation process, conceptus. From the time of implantation until end of 10th week menstrual age, called a zygote conceptus called an embryo. After first 10 weeks, embryo called a fetus. Gestational age (menstrual age) calculated by adding 2 weeks ( 14 days) to conceptual age. Menstrual age refers to length of time calculated from first day of last normal menstrual period (lmp) to point at which pregnancy being assessed.
