Part a: iq background, clues of animal intelligence, deaner et al 2006 some species consistently perform well, adaptive hypotheses for intelligence, the comparative neuroanatomical approach, van schaik"s social learning hypothesis, hrdy & van schaik"s cooperative breeding hypothesis. Alloparental care is key to humans" fast reproduction, big brains, and culture. Alfred binet (1905) developed first iq tests: french government asked binet to development instruments for detecting students that were lagging behind. The goal was to develop academic questions that could be given to a broad range of students so their performances could be compared, even if they were in different schools. Binet"s test are the direct ancestors of stanford-binet scale and wechsler adult. Intelligence scale, tests that are still used today. A valid measurement is one that actually measures what it is supposed to measure. So, if iq scores are valid, people who score well on iq tests ought to do well in real world activities requiring intelligence.
