Participant observation: long-term immersion; in-depth study (getting an insider"s view ) Ethnographic methods: interviews (formal, informal, open, etc. , life histories, genealogies, focus groups, action research/participatory action research, emic and etic. Participation and interviewing: anthropology and people. Rather, use: informants, collaborators, consultants, the people i work with, etc. Manipulation cannot be used: ethics in research.
