Men are more likely to die from 9 of 10 leading causes of death in us. In some countries, life expectancy for women is shorter than men due to high rates of female infanticide, pregnancy related deaths, and poverty related mortality. Average life expectancy in the us= 78 years old. Men are more likely than women to commit violent crimes and to be the victim of a violent crime (with the notable exception of rape) Women are almost 4 times as likely to commit murder with a male victim as opposed to a female victim. Women can expect 51 years free from chronic illness and men can expect 54 years. Women perceive their health to be worse than men. Women report more illness behavior than men (appears first during adolescence) More days in bed due to illness. Women have a greater genetic resistance to some diseases due to having a second x chromosome.
