With control of the government the national assembly was able to get louis xvi to agree to the following constitution: A declaration of the rights of man and of the citizen gave basic civil liberties to all men. Confiscated church lands and the church came under control of the government. Monarchy"s power was greatly limited while the elected assembly"s power was the supreme power.
