Battle of Waterloo
fought on Sunday, 18 June 1815, near Waterloo in present-day Belgium, then part
of the United Kingdom of the Netherlands. the battle between the
English/Prussians against Napoleon lead France. the last battle he led
1803 - Louisiana Purchase
the acquisition of the Louisiana territory by the United States from France in
1803. The U.S. paid fifty million francs and a cancellation of debts worth eighteen
million francs for a total of sixty-eight million francs
1812-1815 War of 1812
a conflict fought between the United States, the United Kingdom, and their
respective allies
impressment
colloquially, "the press" or the "press gang", refers to the act of taking men into a
military or naval force by compulsion, with or without notice. Navies of several
nations used forced recruitment by various means
