Document Summary

Newton"s 3rd law of motion describes what will happen when two objects meet. The second of three very big ideas concerning conservation laws comes from the 3rd law. Any object in motion will have a quantity called momentum . Momentum is a vector quantity so that you will need to indicate both an amount and a direction. The direction of the momentum vector is in the same direction as an object"s velocity vector. Momentum has a value that is the product of an object"s mass times its velocity. Momentum is measured in the units of kg m / sec or n sec. the right at 5 m/s. The momentum is p = + 20 n sec. is measured in joules. One joule is equivalent to1 n m or 1 kg m2/s2. p = mv. An object in motion also has energy of motion known as kinetic energy.
