Obedience to authority-complying with a person or group perceived to be an authority. Rewards tend to work better than coercion. Constant use of coercion,subject gets used to it and it loses its meaning. Expertise-a person with special knowledge(especially if you require this knowledge) has a certain authority and can get you to do things you would not normally do. Information-having it can be a form of power, a ceo"s administrative assistant has great power because they control the ceo"s calendar and has information. Referent power-power that comes out of identifying with another person(charismatic power). People want you to like them so that will do things for you. Legitimate authority-power is given to legitimate authority figures like elected officials, judges, policemen. Parking meter needs money and two conditions. Control-guy in suit says put money in the meter. Experimental-guy is wearing security jacket, say put money in meter.
