Physical attractiveness: we are more likely to want to become close with people who are good-looking. Both men and women prefer large eyes, prominent cheekbones and a big smile. Men prefer women with a small nose and chin. Women prefer men with a larger (squarer) chin. Those attracted to men, particularly heterosexual women, prefer men with masculine features (e. g. index to ring nger length ratio) These features are associated with high levels of testosterone. Thought to be markers of physical and reproductive tness. Attraction ban be in uenced by where a woman is in her menstrual cycle. Follicular phase: the few days prior to ovulation and ovulation day itself; possibility of conception high. Luteal/menstrual phase: the rest of the cycle; possibility of conception nearly zero. Effects are only for women who do not use hormonal birth control and mostly apply to short-term mates.
