PSYCH 101 Lecture 30: Psych 101 - LTR 30
Document Summary
Way we think about others/self: attribution: 2. Something within in them, internal to person they are cause of own behavior internal external. Something about how situation caused them to behave the way they did. Primary dimension about why people assign causes. Fundamental attribution error tendency to overestimate internal causes for other people"s behaviors. Have broad tendency that other people are acting way they are acting bc of something internal to them, and ignore external reasons. General tendency to commit fae about other people tends to be more pronounced when other person"s behavior affects us personally. Much more likely to say they meant to do it. Things that affect us personally more likely to make internal attribution. Other people"s behavior that causes us pleasure/pain, more likely to commit. Not necessarily that behavior is directed as us (personalism) Hedonism: emotional response, even if behavior is directed as someone else. Ex: you and your friend are walking along street.
