Admit what you did was wrong but not morally culpable: ex: insanity. Partial excuse manslaughter in the mpc is formulated more as an excuse than a justification. The judge will give directions for both manslaughter and first/second degree murder. Heat of passion: actually have to have been provoked by the adequate provocation. No cooling off time: can"t go away and think up a way to murder them later. Causal connection between the provocation and the act: in some jurisdictions, the one doing the provoking has to be the person who was killed; others allow some transfer . Issue in this case is not intention it has to do with provocation. The killing must have been in the heat of passion.
