THEO 1000 Lecture Notes - Fideism, Henotheism, Pantheism
Document Summary
Theology: theological integrity, discourse has integrity when it talks about what it says it is talking about, speech should not conceal its purposes, honest discourse allows for response and continuation and collaboration. It is not final: lack of integrity in speech is manifestly a political matter, religious talk is in an odd position with integrity, makes grandiose statements and does not like to argue. Is hesitant to close the argument and make anything definitive because no one really knows: theological integrity is possible when discourse about god declines the attempt to take. If the premises are right, and the reasoning is right, the conclusion will be right. If it doesn"t actually exist, it can"t be the greatest of all things. It doesn"t matter if there are gods or not. It is not about whether they exist or not, it is the fact that the religion exists: marx.
