Iii 8 rules false case of courage (total of 5) Cannot be from certainty (know life or death); no ignorance. Prioritize sudden bravery over calculated bravery - crises reveal characters. Why so narrow a virtue? no civic courage rule out certain death as courageous. Aristotle never fought; virtue only available under special circumstances. Possible defense: perhaps what e call courage aristotle would call a diff virture: pride.
