Document Summary

Argument about freedom using the notion of an untouchable truth. Which means that no human ever could have changed the truth of p. No human has ever had any influence over this. Claim 1: if p is necessary, then p is untouchable (necessity rule) If there is no way it could be false. Claim 2: if p is untouchable and (cid:873)if p, then q(cid:874) is untouchable, then q is untouchable (conditional rule) Determinism is the thesis that the past plus the laws of nature entail a unique future. Doesn"t declaim what we know about the future or what we could know. Given how things are now, there is only one way things could be in the future. The laws of nature govern and contain all of the variables. You could deduce the future from how things are right now. The state of the world at any given time plus the laws of nature entail the world all other times.
