Analytic- closer to math, soundness, irrefutability of argument. Thesis: life (identity) is a story and a narrative. Life is lived stories are told, different realms. The unexamined life is not worth living. Passively reading text- not getting anything from it. Only comes when interpreted into meshed and unified whole. Plot makes a unity of multiple things. Retelling or rereading a story emphasizes this point. Plot endure through time even if they change slightly. Still one thing enduring throughout the change. Identity stays the same over time - similarity. We know what is ethical and what is not. Text is all forms of media and art- tv, music, news. We develop our ethical code from the text we encounter. World of text and world of reader. World of reader- own cultural presuppositions, past history, philosophical background, historical interest, can"t control. Focus on why the author wrote it. Let"s take this text and world opened up to is.
