If you believe in god and he does exist- infinite award. If you believe in god and does not exist- comforted by false belief. If you don"t believe in god and he exists- punishment. If you don"t believe in god and he doesn"t exist- happy but not as happy as if you believed he existed. Illusion- the fulfillment of oldest wishes of mankind. Freud thinks illusions are beliefs that are created by wish fulfillment. 1899 notices that dreams follow a certain pattern (in children usually) Dream- fulfillment unsatisfied desires as a child. Society has instilled values for unsatisfied desires (robbing a bank) Disguised, edited, censored, moral process (superego) censor desires. Psychoanalysts tell you what inner desires are. Dad will protect you- dad dies- need a father. Theists look at atheists- missed order of things cant see design and order of the universe. Atheists look at theists- what is wrong with theists that there are logical contradictions with arguments for god.
