21 views2 pages

Document Summary

What is globalization? increasing integration of economies and societies around the world, particularly through trade and financial flows, and the transfer of culture and technology. Refers to increased flow of people from one place to another immigration, labor, tourism. Upsides increased access to resources and info around the globe. Easier to do to be ignorant, you have to actively be doing that increased mobility and cultural hybridity (s. hall), exposure to other cultures, languages, lifestyles. We are all hybrids different backgrounds, nationalities, etc. State of mind more than literal thing. Don"t identify with one particular place/country feel like they belong everywhere. Has made those living in developed world more aware of the issues in developing world. Very simplistic view bc things aren"t black and white. Developed world still has poor and homeless. Developing world is not hopeless or lesser. Political and economic power dynamics inform these flows and reinforce uneven distribution of goods and resources.
