As the republic expanded beyond italian peninsula, slaves no longer as educated as their master. Slave numbers peaked towards the end of the republic and early empire. Growth of slavery: romans were only to be sold into slavery outside of rome, slaves were mostly among the main booty during julius caesar"s gallic. The work of slaves: slave girls and boys were often sexually exploited. Third: spartacus led great slave rebellion.
