Criminology: the study to find the causes: uses a lot of variables from different disciplines biology, psychology. So, what is the cause of crime: everything can cause crime, there is no single cause to crime, entertainment and media industry targeted as cause of crime. Theory is a set of interrelated propositions that attempt to explain, describe, and predict some phenomena , in this case crime: theory is a kind of model, theory is essentially a cause of and effect. The theories we will discuss can be broken down into 5 categories: classical theories, biological theories, psychological, sociological, social process theories. One of the earliest perspectives on crime: enlightenment period, general idea: human beings have free will and are rational. Free will: humans have the ability to make their own decisions. Rational: people make decisions by weighing the costs and benefits.
