HSC 4250 Lecture Notes - Lecture 2: Task Analysis, Job Performance, Uptodate
Document Summary
The level of sophistication of the task analysis will depend on budgetary and personnel resources made available. Identification of the basic workplace skills problem to be addressed by the training program is the determining factor in deciding the necessary degree of detail. An in-depth task analysis can be time-consuming and costly if some up-to-date materials do not already exist. Unless a job is entirely new, there should be some substantial material available that can be used as a foundation on which to build a task analysis. The process of task analysis includes both descriptions and analysis. Description is concerned with stating activities or outcomes of activities and is a necessary first part of the process. Analysis is the derivation of skill, attitude, and knowledge requirements needed for successful task performance. It is more critical to the development of appropriate training strategies.
