Document Summary

What is science: a systematic method to answer questions, a process of using observations and experiments to draw evidence-based conclusions. Why is it important to study and understand science: everyday decisions, awareness and appreciation of life. What is the first step of the scientific method: observation. What is anecdotal evidence: often unreliable or untested. What do you do after formulating an observation: a question. After formulating a question, what do you do: study previous research. What is a scientific hypothesis: testable and falsifiable explanation for an observation or question. If it can"t be tested or refuted it is not a scientific hypothesis. It is never proven true once and for all. If false, it is rejected and no longer considered a possible answer to the original question. What does testable mean: makes predictions that are supported or rejected by carefully designed experiments or non- experimental studies.
