Lower barriers for sustainable behaviors & higher barriers for unsustainable behaviors. Mckenczie-mohr techniques: commitments, social norms, social diffusion, prompts, communication, incentives, convenience. Act of signing a commitment strengthens their attitude & leads to behavior. Present the norm at the time the targeted behavior is to occur. Use norms to encourage people to engage in positive behavior. Aside from making a commitment, ask for others to spread the information. Implement the strategy (place a prompt, hold an event, distribute flyers) You might not be able to address all barriers at the same time. Small sample of interest two groups (intervention & control) The connection between people and the environment. Cusp of status quo and reform, looking for change but not trashing on everything that society runs with today. Takes in consideration social and environmental costs (costs are internalized) Want businesses to continue functioning, but have a sustainable model. Movement recognizes dependency of humans on the environment (interdependent)
