Document Summary

Single patient with a lesion/damage in the brain. Ex: one patient can recognize faces but not objects; the other can recognize objects but not faces. Be cautious in drawing inferences if that area is the one that does the computations for said task. With electrodes, can apply electric currents and generate motor motions/feelings/sensations/recollections. Early in the ventral stream is very viewpoint dependent. As you go along the temporal lobe, the orientation of the object matters less and it becomes more abstract. Implant electrodes deeply into suspected epileptogenic site or place multi-electrode grid on cortical surfaces. Can record a single neuron or a group. Done to find the epigenetic site where is it originating and knock it out knock it out. Individual neurons in the right superior temporal gyrus are sensitive to certain features of auditory perceived words. Temporal lobe has 3 major gyri, including the superior, middle, and inferior, that are all relative to language.
