Sexual selection: based on differential success in mating, certain traits of one"s sex evolve because they increase chances of attracting a mate. Intrasexual= in one sex (i. e. fighting over mates between males) Infanticide is a form of intrasexual selections in males (kill others offspring so you can reproduce. Also intrasexual for females= females can"t evolve counter strategies to male infanticide as females constantly compete- if one tries to evolve/ act against this process other may not= pointless. Individuals of the same sex compete fiver the same limited resources. Females compete over resources (i. e. food, safe nesting sites) Leads to a hierarchy of dominance in a species. Leads to natural selections for traits that allow for more mating (i. e. larger size, larger horns, etc. : males can potentially sire more offspring than females. Great disparity in mating between the top and bottom males.
