G-d commanded adam to eat from any tree in the garden except for the tree of knowledge of good and evil- g-d said that if adam ate from this tree he would certainly die. G-d took a rib from adam and created a woman, eve. She shall be called woman," for she was taken out of man. the serpent tempted adam and eve- he said they would not die if they ate from the tree in the middle of the garden.
