Availability heuristic: mental shortcut ppl use to estimate the likelihood of an event by the ease with which instances of that event come to mind that homicides occur more often. more often happens we overest. Likelihood of newsworthy causes of death false consensus effect: tendency to overest. the extent to which others agree with us. Results from anchoring and adjustment process in which person uses his/her own view as anchor and then inappropriately adjusts.
