What jobs you may be good at. Iq school performance, complex careers, + income. Intelligence tests may penalize people for belonging to a particular culture or group. Western values (quick thinking versus reflection, speaking assertively) are considered important. For all countries testing iq, average intelligence scores have increased with each generation. Proposed explanations involve many environmental factors such as better education and challenging modern environment. Iq scores are re-normalized periodically, such that the average score is reset to 100. Motivation: need or desire that energizes and directs behavior. Physiological need drive to reduce the need drive reducing behaviors homeostasis (and also influenced by incentives) In addition to meeting basic needs, we are motivated to maintain optimum levels of arousal. Performance increases with arousal up to an optimal point and then decreases with increasing arousal . Our needs: state of deficiency (biological or social) . Our goals: goal = desired outcome (object or behavioral intention)
