Document Summary

Existence proceeds essence - man exists, turns up, appears on the scene, and only afterwards, defines himself. If god didn"t exist, everything would be possible. - fyodor dostoevsky. Humans must deal with our thrownness in the world. Humans must not orient the world through omens, for he/she will interpret them to fit his/her own cause. There are three feelings that accompany human existence according to sartre. Forlornness - (pitifully sad or abandoned: we must face the consequence of a godless world, there is no justification for our existence, humans feel an abandonment by an omnipotent higher power. There is no doctrine more optimistic, since man"s destiny is within himself. Existentialism is not just a bourgeois philosophy. Feminism: the movement and intellectual approach concerned with identifying and remedying harm and disadvantage arising from biases against women. Basic principle: there is a moral equality among women and men. Bodily differences are irrelevant, so men and women are metaphysically the same.
