Private security includes in-house" or proprietorial" security, with staff directly employed and managed by a private company. Eg. retail security officers are probably the most commonly known examples. Private security also includes contract" security, which refers to companies that provide security on a commercial contract basis. Public security usually refers to security providers directly employed by a government agency. However, in many locations, it is often difficult for an outsider to know the contractual basis on which security is provided. In australia, in 1986 there were 22975 guards and security officers and 33881 police officers; in 2011 numbers involved in various security provider functions included: Financial fraud ponzi schemes and boiler rooms. Cyber crime cyber fraud (including romance scams, data breaches and social engineering) Atm"s are an attractive target for offenders numerous modus operandi. Card skimming - stealing of the electronic card data, enabling the criminal to counterfeit the card.
