Social construction: humans perceived a phenom, gave it a name and categorized it accordingly (cid:1) Think of behavior as a continuum, somewhere between forbidden & encouraged behavior is where societal norms fall (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) Evil because it is prohibited, not necessarily morally wrong. Wrong because there is a law against it. Bound by time & culture: examples: Speeding (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) Criminality- trait that lies on a continuum isn"t something one has or does not have. Property of a person that signals the willingness to commit crimes/harm clinical/scientific term.
