Amoralist- a competent adult who does have interests but claims not to care about morality (irrational perceptive) Amoral- without morality: psychopath- a mental disorder that causes a person to not care about morality because they are incapable of it. Lack the ability to identify with other human beings: clinical depression- mood disorder that evokes hopelessness. Because this person no longer cares about life, they also do not consider morality. Theoretical reasoning- follows reasoning of good thinking to reach credible beliefs: logical consistency- aims at beliefs that are logically consistent. Practical reasoning- standards that apply directly to decisions: efficiency. If an amoralist is going to be consistent, then there life is not very efficient: to be efficient they expect everyone else to be law abiding, but then they are not consistent. Psychological egoism- the view that all actions are motivated by self-interested reasons. Motives: the view that motives are ultimately self-interested, must be compared with actions.
