Immediate response to stomach distention (stretch receptors - mechanoreceptors: occurs quickly (chemoreceptors after ingested food raises gastric ph) Bolus is pretty relatively acidic so chemoreceptors are stimulated o. Secreted by g cells into blood circulation to secrete more gastric juice. Chief cells: gastric lipase and pepsin (that will break down proteins) Submucosal plexus is between the submucosal fibers - regulates smooth muscles in muscularis to secrete juices into stomach. Intestinal phase - triggered when contents of stomach goes to duodenum. Neuronal regulation via stretch receptors to trigger enterogastric reflex to inhibit pns and stimulate sns to decrease gastric emptying.
