(this is my disclaimer. ) Know the four categories of tissues (epithelial, connective, muscle, and nervous) and all 14 types of tissues we saw in lab. You should be able to recognize each, know the function of each and know where each is found in the body. The animal tissues assignment (the post lab) will help you organize this material. For all the animal phyla you need to know the following: You should be able to recognize examples that were on display as members of the phylum to which they belong. For most dissections you should be able to tell if your specimen is male, female, or both (monoecious) (note: exceptions are clams and sea stars- you cannot determine sex without microscopic examination of gametes).
