What is ecology: literally means the study of one"s house. Covers how organisms interact with biotic components, and the affects of many physical/chemical processes. What are abiotic and biotic factors: abiotic factors include things like birds, insects, bacteria, and humans. Be familiar with the difference between organisms, populations, communities, and ecosystems: organisms are any single lifeform. Populations are a group of same species organisms interacting and occupying a specific area at the same time. Communities are populations of different species occupying a specific area at the same time. Ecosystems are a community of species combined together in part of their abiotic (nonliving) environment. Be familiar with the different forms of energy and how energy changes from one form to another: basic energy provides the capacity to do work. Potential energy is stored energy, also known as energy of position (i. e water held behind a dam).
