If you do not have an id, poll workers can verify with your social security number of you can sign an affidavit that allows you to fill out a provisional ballot. 34 states required that all voters have an id. The democrats believe that it is a power play by the republicans to disenfranchise minority voters (who mostly vote democrat). All states still allow absentee voting but only 33 states allow early registration voting. The butterfly ballot refers to the bush v gore election of 04 which was at the heart of a massive voter controversy. The goal of redistricting, changes in zones that a representative represents, is to make the area compact in order to allow more efficient constituent-representative relations. Contiguity means to make sure the locations are connected. Redistricting also needs to make sure the population is equal while still preserving existing communities to avoid division.
