When the person no longer is valued or no longer cares about the relationship. Ex. tough love: hurt feelings to make them better -> coaches, parents. Active verbal responses: talk it out/ respond in kind. Invulnerable, person will continue engaging in the behavior because they do not understand. When people think you hurt them on purpose, they will respond differently. In a good relationship, people will less likely to think you hurt them on purpose. In a bad relationship, people will most likely think you hurt them on purpose. Sending:we tend to tease people we like rather than people we don"t like. Receiving: people tend to think there is a grain of truth in it.
