In order to run for president a person must be a naturalized citizen at least. 35 years of age, and a u. s citizen for at least 14 years. The 22nd amendment sets a term limit for the election of the president. I think that this amendment was added to the constitution to prevent one person from serving more than two terms: explain the presidential role as head of state and as chief executive. Under the role as chief of staff, the president is the head of the executive branch of the government. As commander of chief, the president is the supreme commander of the military forces of the u. s and of the state national guard when they are called into federal service. The war powers resolution is law passed in 1973 spelling out the conditions under which the president can commit troops without congressional approval: examine the president"s role as chief legislator and chief diplomat.
