Malthus wrote an essay on the principle of population and other versions that were called the. Malthus collected data and general observations on population questions; the basic theory, however, remained the same through all editions. William godwin claimed that in the human society of the future, war and crime would cease to exist and therefore there would be no need for law enforcement. Disease, melancholy and resentment would vanish, and each person would strive to promote the common good. Malthus made two postulates: food is necessary to the existence of the man, the passion between sexes is necessary and will remain nearly in its present state. Godwin hypotheses was that sexual instinct would decline with increasing wealth. Also: population, when unchecked, increases in a geometrical ratio, subsistence increases only in an arithmetical ratio.
