He loves wisdom but claims he does not possess it he pursues it. He makes his life revolve around the pursuit of wisdom. Will never feel put to rest with wisdom. The word philosopher means lover of wisdom. Oracle at delphi: no man is wiser than socrates . Believes socrates is the wisest, as wise as anyone gets. Socrates does not see himself as wise because he recognizes his ignorance and thinks this makes him better off. Human: awareness of one"s ignorance, understanding your limit of knowledge, moral wisdom. Superhuman: possessing theoretical, metaphysical knowledge, godlike knowledge, no limit to what one knows. Socratic method/dialect: a question and answer technique used to draw truth out of the participants, and often involves guiding questions and irony. Socratic irony allows a dynamic and sometimes humorous mode of communication on two levels: a literal and obvious level, a hidden deeper level.
