A purely fictitious narrative usually involving supernatural phenomena embodying some popular idea, etc. (dictionary) Once was far more important than these definition would lead us to assume. Explaining how the world came into existence. Important and influenced what men would think/organize/act. Mesopotamian myths were pessimistic and had negative world views. Written down in 1800 bce but probably existed in earlier traditions in oral. In the beginning on big ocean, there were only 2 gods/goddesses who went into the ocean where the other gods came into play who created land and everything.
