The other key component for a cultural system is religion. Religion is a belief system and a set of practices that recognizes the existence of a power higher than humankind. Religion has been a powerful influence in shaping the worlds geography. Most important influence has been through religious conversation (spread for from origin) Much of the world practices some kind of faith based belief that is a powerful force in guiding their culture. Diaspora and emigration involve involuntary and voluntary movement of people that bring religious practices with them. Diaspora spatial dispersion of a previously homogeneous group. Religious practices so spatially mixed that it"s hard to map religious at global spatial scale. The world"s major religions originated in a fairly small region of the world. Judaism and christianity began in present day israel and jordan. Diffusion of christianity helped by missionizing and imperialism: missionizing and conversion (deliberate efforts to change someone) Judaism has remained numerically small (not seek converts)
