The diencephalon is deep to the telencephalon. It is responsible for sensory and motor relay into and out of the brain, as well as control of the autonomic nervous system. The diencephalon is made up of the thalamus and hypothalamus. The diencephalon is a group of structures in the central brain, deep to the telencephalon. The diencephalon encloses a structure known as the third ventricle. It is composed of the thalamus and hypothalamus.
