What is a primate?- mammals w/ grasping hands, large brains, a high degree of learned rather than innate behavior. Divided into 2 suborders: developed by st. hilaire. Strepsirhini or strepsirhine- includes prosimians (lemurs, lorises, and galagos); excluding the tarsier. Haplorhini or haplorhine- includes anthropoids and the tarsier. Prosimian- members of the primate suborder prosimii that includes the lemurs, lorises, galagos, and tarsiers.
