The unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people or things, especially on the grounds of race, age, sex, religion, nationality, disability, or sexual orientation. This can occur in education, health, employment, housing, punishment, marriage, etc. Race: a social construct and a social reality. But still is a social reality with real social implications. Harassment on the basis of race or skin color. Retaliation against an individual for filing a charge of discrimination. Employment decisions based on stereotypes or assumptions about the abilities, traits, or performances of individuals of a certain race. Denying employment opportunities to a person because of marriage to, or association with, an individual of a particular race. Individual responsibility: motivation, drive, perseverance, work ethic. Culture: wilson: it is almost all structure, anderson: culture has its own impact, wilson: ok, maybe it is not entirely structure . Culture: attitude, behavior, transmitted from one generation to next: wilson: ghetto culture is born from a societal constraints/ structure.
