LIFE 102 Lecture Notes - Lecture 17: Sister Chromatids, Cell Division, Dna Replication
Document Summary
Chapter 11 sexual reproduction biology 102 notes part 2. A single starting cell can produce four gametes. Meiosis and fertilization together constitute a cycle of reproduction. In each round of division, cells go through four stages: prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase. Eggs and sperm are haploid cells (1n) which contain one set of all chromosomes, and are products of meiotic division. During fertilization the fusion of two haploid gametes results in a diploid (2n) zygote, which contains two sets of chromosomes.
