Document Summary
Hdfs 334 notes // spring semester 2020 // prof: jaime rotner. Secure: reads signals accurately, responsive, positive exchanges, flexible. Insecure anxious avoidant: emotionally unavailable, may reject bids for closeness, indifferent. Insecure anxious resistant: caregiver overwhelmed/anxious, unpredictable, overinvolved, Disorganized/disoriented: caregiver abusive or unresolved trauma inconsistent, misreads cues. Stability of attachment age 6-7 has been seen in both secure and insecure attachment anywhere between 68-90% At least 68% had the same attachment style as their infancy. Some have looked to 20 years of age and seen 72% stability generational patterns of stability and attachment. Increase of secure attachment, higher capacity to recognize attachment impacts on relationships. We do see insecure attachments in early childhood shift to secure attachment by middle childhood (42% shifted to secure by age 5) Potential predictors of change in families: working out past issues, parent makes adjustments, some babies aren"t consistent, parents aren"t baby people . Can read signals more easily as they grow.
