The brain is capable of controlling a multitude of activities simultaneously and respond to. The adult brain a variety of stimuli with an amazing degree of versatility. The lobes of the brain pertain to the parts of the skull that they lie underneath of: Cerebellum = back most part of the brain (closest to spinal column) Undergoes disproportionate growth rates in different regions. 2 main flexures that bend brain forward . Brain is protected and isolated by many structures. Assist to drain blood from brain - only in select regions. Clear, colorless fluid found in and around the brain and spinal cord. Thin-walled capillaries enclosed by layer of epidymal cells. Csf originates from blood and plasma + is produced by secretion from ependymal cells. Maintains stable environment - doesn"t allow harmful things from blood to enter. Cerebral hemispheres - fit snugly into skull. Location of conscious thought process and origin of all complex intellectual functions.
