Basically from the actions the british government took colonizing- resulted in the low political development we see in those countries today. Colonism- settlement and extractive: settlement colonies composed of areas without many native people, mostly europeans that wanted to establish similar rule of law such as protection of property. Small amount of actual large scaled settler conolies. Doesn"t focus on the states ability to create institutions, forgets human development. Still accepts them but need work and more in dethp ideas. How did british rule affect versus purpose of colonization. Defines direct colonization by : legal-administrative institutions being in place . Indicators: political stability, bureaucratic effectiveness, state regulatory burden, rule of law, lack of corruption, democratization o. Others: indirect rule led to eneffective governments because tribal leaders stayed in power. Low jobs in government are held by locals while important ones on top are run by head government. Government is run by the established leaders and overseen by government.
