Atmosphere moves heat from one location to another. 45 n and 45 s are similar but max and min are slightly different. Extremes in winter of little radiation = low temperature. Peak of curve in fig 9 shifts north because sun shifts north. Southern hemisphere is water, northern is land. Motion of atmosphere i west to east in mid latitudes but east to west at equator. Weather on west coast of us bc air comes from ocean. East coast of us is from land. 3 different curves for 3 different cities.
