Document Summary

Blank slate - knowledge is not innate: the only way we know about the external world is through sensory input. Innate - some primary notions which the souls receives in its first being: born with certain ideas. Not true because everything is sense based and only some people can use their senses - not innate: not something that everyone can agree on - even if it is universal it doesn"t have to be innate. Your mind has to be aware to actually know something. Experience is sensation (external objects) and reflection (of your own mind) Everything either comes from sensation and reflection. Understanding comes in waves - you are not going to understand everything at once. Primary qualities = chucks of matter - texture, color, matter. Secondary qualities = power to produce various sensations. The stuff in your head that you are directly aware of are ideas.
